December 2005
I have been over to one of the area churches on several occasions this year and season to show some company products. One of the school teachers, Tricia, the director for the preschool and kindergarten, has been incredibly encouraging in sharing with her fellow teachers and assistants information about my ministry, especially the pieces from the "Witness Line," which is her name for the products that display the six colors that tell the Gospel story.
For a Christmas and thank-you gift to her staff, Tricia and other preschool administrators wanted to purchase presents for the teachers and assistants. They looked over our products and thought the GC Rondelle Disc and silver chain set would be a nice piece, however, it was priced higher than they had budgeted for the presents. They had also looked at area Christian stores and found products for less money that also showed a series of colors that would generate the Gospel story. When they informed me of this, I was so grateful that the Lord gave me the words to put into the e-mail I sent back to them, advising them to remember clearly the purpose that we as believers must put at the forefront of what we do: to tell of Jesus as our loving Savior, in whatever way we can. I did not feel sad, upset, or defensive in any way about their decision to buy the other available products on the market that could also be used to witness Christ. In fact, I wrote to encourage them to choose whatever goods were available that would yield a potential witness in the future.
In the end, they did decide to purchase the products from Gospel Colors, Inc.! They were able to cut costs by ingeniously using silk ribbon to thread through the individual rondelles instead of purchasing the silver chains, and I was also able to offer a slight discount with the quantity purchase. I was so surprised and pleased with their decision, but also immensely encouraged and felt immensely blessed! Indeed, if we keep the purpose and thrust of the Great Commission in front of us, without the worry or concerns of finances, that is how we will be eternally rich!
In follow-up, Tricia has told me that the teachers and assistants who received the witness rondelles were "so blown away" by the gifts. These "teachers who never wear jewelry wear these every day and in doing so have been able to share the gospel message"!
